Biomass plant
Introduction

The biomass plant will be sited around the existing old airfield buildings in the centre of the site. The existing buildings will be retained but new ones are also proposed to accommodate the various processes. Large covered tanks are also proposed with a 30m high flue servicing the thermal oxidization unit.

The green waste composting operation will occupy an extensive amount of site coverage within the project and will operate on a three to four year cycle. Details of the process are outlined below.

Waste

Waste will be delivered to the biomass plant for processing by lorry. It is anticipated that this will involve around 40 HGV's visiting the site each day this equates to 80 HGV movements per day with a maximum of 7 movements per hour.

Two routes could be used for the HGV's as follows :

ROUTE A
Using the northern access into the site from the B645 main road then west to the A6 along the B645 through Chelveston.

ROUTE B
Using the southern access into the site along Newton Road with HGV passing places, avoiding Caldecott, joining the B645 just the east of its junction with the A6.

Details of these are shown below.
